a. What is your topic and why?:  

My topic is Cancer Survivorship. I chose this topic because working with cancer survivors would give me many more opportunities to interact with them as opposed to working with cancer patients. There are many complications and restrictions when working with cancer patients. It was very difficult for me to find a volunteer spot that would allow me to go on a personal level with them. Cancer survivors do not have as many restrictions which gives me more opportunities to be around them.  
 
b. And what do you hope to accomplish this year with this topic (connecting your answer to each of the 4 ESLRs):

• iPoly Citizen:  I plan to be respectful toward the people that I interview. I plan to meet all of the deadlines that are assigned to me for my senior project. I plan to not only complete assignments, but attempt to go above and beyond. This relates to me improving as a iPoly citizen because I will do more than what is initially expected of me and give this project my all. I will do my best to educate the I-poly community about cancer survivorship and deliver my presentation in a way that people will understand.
• Effective Communicator:  I plan to give my full undivided attention to the person I am interviewing. I plan to work on my presentation skills by making sure the information I am giving out is understandable and clear. I also plan to be open to any suggestions or comments I am given that involve my project. I will go into this with an open mind. This will make me more effective as a learner because I listen to suggestions to further enhance my project instead of being closed mind and doing things only my way.
• Effective Learner:  I plan to take responsibility for my own work. This means completing my work on my own and not cheating on any assignment. I will use my time wisely in class to enhance the content of my presentation. I will focus on the overall content more than the aesthetics, but I will also make my displays look presentable and interesting. This will make me more effective as a learner because I will not waste time and practice academic honesty. I will also be very productive and efficient in completing the assignment in a certain amount of time.
• Effective User of Technology: I plan to incorporate a power point into my presentation. I plan to learn how to use Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Photoshop to its fullest potential in order to better organize my project. This will also enhance the aesthetics and make modern technology evident in my presentation. This will make me more effective as a user of technology because it will help my audience's understanding and involve myself with different types of programs that can benefit my presentation.
