There are many definitions for cancer survivor. Some consider even the patient's family members as cancer survivors themselves while some consider a cancer survivor as someone who has went through the entire treatment process and has no trace of cancer in their system anymore. Most cancer survivors develop some type of psychological stress due to their experience. Depression occurs mostly in young adults or teens.

Cancer is such a common thing in our society nearly everyone has had a family member with it. Mutations to genes can actually be transmitted from second hand smoking.  The age you are when you are diagnosed with a specific kind of cancer is important because it will determine the rarity of the cancer in that individual’s age group.

Common things that most people don’t think can generate cancer include excessive alcohol and sunlight. Even radiation from digital devices such as cell phones and laptops can trigger cancer. Not all cancers have specific causes because they’re unknown.  Symptoms of cancer are similar to those of the common cold or flu. There are simple tests to detect cancer such as blood tests and x-rays. There are also more complex ones such as surgical biopsies.

Side effects of cancer can affect eating habits and cause fatigue. It can also cause short-term memory, which can place a heavy burden on the learning abilities of the patient. Cancer can also take away a woman’s ability to become pregnant. Obviously, lots of pain can occur even after cancer due to all the surgeries and treatments.
